In March 2024, the CERN Council approved the overall timeline for the next update of the European Strategy for Particle Physics. The deadline for the submission of community input was set at 31 March 2025, with the goal to conclude the process in June 2026.

In June 2024, the Council elected Professor Karl Jakobs (University of Freiburg) as Strategy Secretary for the Strategy and established both the Strategy Secretariat and the European Strategy Group.
